Silicon photonic integrated circuits have allowed for incredible advances in a number of fields, including LiDAR, signal processing, sensors, and data transmission, in part due to the manufacturability of CMOS compatible processes. However, silicon is a poor light emitter, and the integration of compound semiconductor lasers with silicon photonics remains a common challenge.
The SiEPICfab-ePIXfab Workshop on Laser Integration in Silicon Photonics brings together experts in various fields to discuss the most promising approaches of laser integration and the applications that will be enabled by this capability. Participation in experimental MPWs using two of these approaches (transfer printing and photonic wire bonding) will be offered as an option in this workshop

the European Silicon Photonics Alliance is collaborating with the China International Optoelectronic Expo (CIOE) to organize a 3-hour forum on Open-access silicon photonics fabrication platforms. The forum will take place on September 16, 2021, at the 23rd CIOE in Shenzhen. The forum will provide updates on the recent trends, current state-of-the-art, and upcoming developments in open-access silicon photonics technologies. Silicon photonics is a high-index contrast photonic IC technology that leverages the CMOS processing toolsets for the manufacturing of complex photonic functions on highly miniaturized chips at low cost irrespective of the manufacturing volume.
The European Photonic Integration Forum (EPIF) embodies influential stakeholders of the international photonic integration ecosystem. Every year, ePIXfab and JePPIX join forces to organize EPIF with the support of its members and partners. This year the 12th edition of the EPIF will be held on 29th October 2021 from 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm (Belgium Time) in an online setting. Participation is free!
